About The Belfry
The Belfry Theatre is a busy community theatre presenting six productions each year. As one production completes,
preparations are underway for the next one.

Here, all have a chance to utilize and hone their acting talents, and experience the challenges of building sets, finding or
building props, costuming, creating publicity and designing lights and sound. We attract and welcome new participants
from all over Hamilton County, Indianapolis and Central Indiana. To join the action, click on

The intimate live entertainment at the Belfry draws wide-spread audiences from Central Indiana. With only eight rows of
seats, they are close and can see and hear every detail of the performance. A great opportunity to see talented people
you know and people you don't, on stage in quality entertainment. Our loyal audiences respond with plenty of laugher,
tears, excitement and hearty applause as we present a wide variety of shows.

Comedies, musicals and dramas are selected for their quality and taste. Each director and producer works hard to utilize
each participant's talent to the utmost and offer a superbly satisfying theatrical experience for our audiences. Despite its
compact stage, the Belfry has successfully showcased large, challenging productions such as Here's Love, Grand Hotel,
A Christmas Story and Brigadoon.

Organization
The organization behind the Belfry Theatre is the Hamilton County Theatre Guild, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization
incorporated in 1968. The Hamilton County Theatre Guild board of directors manages The Belfry. The play directors
committee guides the artistic side. The play directors committee is also represented on the board of directors.
A part-time manager, a part-time custodian and a part-time reservation secretary comprise the paid staff for the
Theatre. Volunteers donating time and often money and materials perform all other activities. Proceeds from ticket
sales, advertising and tax deductible contributions go to cover the costs of royalties, costumes, sets, advertising and
upkeep of the building. Royalties, especially for musicals, can be sizable.
The organization is fortunate in being on a sound financial footing.  Prudent money management has permitted
mortgages for building improvements to be retired. Ticket costs are maintained at reasonable levels through the many
contributions of time and money of our actors and production staff members, advertisers and the support of the
community.
The Belfry has provided scholarships for Hamilton County students entering theater-related higher studies. Generous
support of concession sales at performances fund these scholarships and add to the capital campaign.
